Sweep streak continues for women's tennis over Whitworth
ORANGE, Calif. – The winning streak reached six matches as the 30th-ranked Chapman University women's tennis team swept Whitworth 9-0 on Thursday. The Panthers (7-6) posted its third straight sweep over a team from the Northwest Conference.
Chapman quickly built a 3-0 lead in the match with a sweep of the doubles. The Panthers used an all-freshmen lineup in both doubles and singles to keep its win streak alive. Isabella Oedekerk and Jordan Craft won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Alisa Ogranovich and Vasilisa Trofimova won by the same score at No. 2 doubles while Madison Ross and Anna Kaplan won 8-3 at No. 3.
The Panthers kept rolling in singles. Ogranovich extended her personal singles win streak to seven matches in a row and remained undefeated at the top spot in the lineup with a quick 6-2, 6-2 win. Oedekerk won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 and Craft won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3. Kaplan quickly clinched a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6.
Ross held off a late surge in the No. 3 match for a 6-1, 7-5 win. Trofimova had to do the same in the No. 5 match as she won 6-2, 7-5 to complete the sweep.
The Panthers take their winning streak into SCIAC play on Saturday when they host Caltech at 10 a.m.
