Women’s tennis falls to Pomona-Pitzer

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team (9-8, 3-3 SCIAC) dropped its final home match of the season 9-0 today to the visiting Pomona-Pitzer (10-7, 4-1 SCIAC). Freshman Alisa Ogranovich put up a fight in the second round of her singles match, taking the second set to a final score of 6-3.

Ogranovich dropped her first singles match 6-0, but fought back to score three against her opponent before ultimately losing 6-0, 6-3 on the No. 1 court. Fellow freshman Vasilisa Trofimova also made her opponent work for it, losing 6-4 in the first set before dropping the second set 6-0 on the No. 2 court.

Freshman Anna Kaplan lost her singles match 6-3, 6-1 on court No. 3, while freshman Delara Fotovatjah lost 6-1, 6-2 on court No. 4. Freshmen Naomi Lee and Morgan Nusz lost their matches 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0, respectively.

Doubles partners Ogranovich and Trofimova lost 8-0 on the No. 1 court while both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles courts lost 8-1. The freshman duo of Madison Ross and Kaplan were on court No. 2 and freshman Naomi Lee and Fotovatjah were on court No. 3.

The Panthers head to Occidental next weekend on Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m. to play the final game of the regular season.
