Women's tennis team, nine Panthers earn academic distinction

TEMPE, Ariz. – For the fourth year in a row, the Chapman University women's tennis team has been recognized as one of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-Academic teams. Nine of the 14 student-athletes on the roster were also recognized for their individual achievements in the classroom.

As a team, the Panthers posted a 3.53 GPA. A team that featured 12 freshmen in 2018 enjoyed a tremendous turn-around season on the court after finishing fourth in the SCIAC while simultaneously keeping the high academic standards.

The ITA recognized 735 teams across every division of men's and women's collegiate tennis for achieving a 3.2 team GPA or better over the 2017-18 school year. The organization also recognized 4,328 Scholar Athlete with at least a 3.5 GPA.

The Panthers had nine student-athletes, including eight freshmen, earn the ITA's Scholar-Athlete distinction. Chapman's award winners are: Danielle Axten, Monika Del Rosario, Nicole Fouts, Anna Kaplan, Naomi Lee, Isabella Oedekerk, Alisa Ogranovich, Madison Ross and Vasilisa Trofimova.
