Fouts, Trofimova make finals match at ITA West Regionals

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team sent seven players to the ITA West Regional with a doubles team qualifying for a consolation final. Senior Nicole Fouts and sophomore Vasilisa Trofimova played in the final to highlight the weekend.

Fouts and Trofimova fell 8-4 in their first match in the Flight A bracket but went on a run through the consolation bracket. After an 8-3 win in the consolation round of 16, the duo posted back-to-back 8-1 wins to advance through the quarterfinals and semifinals matches. Fouts and Trofimova eventually fell 8-0 in the finals match to a team from Redlands.

Fouts and Trofimova also won their first singles match in Flight B but fell in the round of 16. Sophomores Madison Ross, Delara Fotovatjah and Anna Kaplan also competed in Flight B. All three opened with win before falling in the round of 16.

The Panthers fall season wraps up with the fall tournament. They return to action at the Lastinger Tennis Center in the spring.
