Women’s tennis narrowly falls to No. 24 Christopher Newport

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team narrowly fell 5-4 to the visiting No. 24 Christopher Newport Captains earlier this afternoon. Senior Nicole Fouts earned victories in both her doubles and singles match to help the Panthers out with a couple of points.

Fouts and doubles partner sophomore Vasilisa Trofimova earned an 8-6 victory on the third court during the first round of play. Sophomores Alisa Ogranovich and Madison Ross fell 8-5 on the No. 1 court while sophomores Anna Kaplan and Naomi Lee fell 8-3 on the No. 2 court.

After going down 2-1 in the doubles round, three Panthers earned victories in the singles round. Ogranovich, Fouts and Kaplin all beat their singles opponents. Ogranovich won 6-4, 6-4 on the No. 1 court, Fouts came back to beat her opponent 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) and Kaplan won her match 6-3, 6-4 on the No. 6 court.

Ross, Trofimova and sophomore Delara Fotovatjah all fell to their singles opponents in two sets.

The Panthers return to their home court tomorrow, March 5 at 1pm to take on No. 17 Mary Washington.
