Women's tennis drops match to No. 17 Mary Washington

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team fell 6-3 to No. 17 Mary Washington at the Lastinger Tennis Center on Tuesday. The Panthers secured a pair of singles wins at the top of the lineup.

Sophomore Alisa Ogranovich took care of business in the No. 1 spot of the singles lineup with a 6-3, 6-3 win for her second consecutive victory. Sophomore Madison Ross won Chapman's third point with a three-set victory at No. 2. After falling in the first set, she stormed back to get the 4-6. 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) win – her first dual win of the season.

The Eagles (3-0) clinched the match with straight set victories on courts four, five and six. Mary Washington also took the two top doubles matches and a three-set win at No. 3. Sophomore Vasilisa Trofimova pushed the match into a third set but fell 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6).

Trofimova and senior Nicole Fouts notched an 8-6 win in the No. 3 doubles match to score Chapman's first team point of the match.

The Panthers are back on the Lastinger Tennis Center courts on Mar. 12 to take on Haverford.
