Women's tennis cruises past Oxy
ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team captured a 6-3 SCIAC win over visiting Occidental on Friday. Sophomore Madison Ross won in her season debut at the top of the singles lineup.
Ross cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win in the top singles match and fellow sophomore Vasilisa Trofimova won by the same score in the No. 2 match. The Panthers clinched the match with wins on courts five and six as well. Sophomore Anna Kaplan won 6-2, 6-2 and classmate Delara Fotovatjah won 6-3, 6-3.
The Panthers started the match with a couple of doubles wins to grab the early advantage. Ross and Kaplan secured the first team point of the night with a quick 8-1 win. Senior Nicole Fouts and Trofimova cruised to an 8-2 win on court one.
Chapman heads to Caltech tomorrow for a 10 a.m. SCIAC match with the Beavers.
