Allyn starts season with SCIAC weekly honors

ORANGE, Calif. – After a big first week, freshman Alliya Allyn has been named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week for women's tennis. The freshman helped Chapman to a 2-1 week to start the dual season.

Allyn scored straight set victories in both her matches on the No. 4 singles court. The Panthers won both matches over Marymount and Cal Lutheran to start the season. Her only loss came in a narrow three-setter against Division I UC Irvine.

In doubles, Allyn and partner Liza Antonova went a perfect 3-0 to start the dual season. The two cruised to an 8-1 win over Marymount and battled to an 8-5 win over Cal Lutheran. The pair also defeated a Division I opponent when Allyn and Antonova teamed up to take down UCI's No. 2 pair in a tiebreaker.

After a fast start, the Panthers take a quick break from dual matches but return to Lastinger Tennis Center on Mar. 1 to take on Christopher Newport and kick off a busy month of March.
