Women's tennis completes season sweep of Cal Lutheran

ORANGE, Calif. – The season ended with a clean sweep for the Chapman University women's tennis team. The Panthers swept the four-match season series with a 6-3 over Regals on Friday.

The Panthers took an early advantage with a sweep of the doubles matches. Sophomore Aliya Allyn and junior Liza Antonova quickly took the No. 1 doubles match 8-3 while the senior duo of Madison Ross and Vasilisa Trofimova won the No. 3 match 8-2 in their final match together.

Junior Tatum Phillips and freshman Olivia Desso were tied 7-7 in the No. 2 doubles match and pulled out the victory in a tiebreaker to win 8-7 (8-6).

Allyn also played at the top of the singles lineup and quickly captured a 6-2, 6-0 to put the Panthers up 4-0. Senior Delara Fotovatjah clinched the match for the Panthers with a close 7-5, 7-6 win in the No.5 match. Senior Anna Maite Kaplan put the finishing touches on the season-ending win with a 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 win in the No. 6 match.

The Panthers season comes to a close after defeating Cal Lutheran in all four matches of the 2021 SCIAC series.
