Women's tennis drops tight match to No. 12 Case Western Reserve

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team fell 6-3 to No. 14 Case Western Reserve in the Panthers return to the Anderson Tennis Center courts. Four of the singles matches needed a third set to be decided in the narrow loss for Chapman.

The Panthers started in an early hole as CWRU swept the three doubles matches to take a 3-0 advantage. The only two matches to be decided in straight sets were a 6-4, 6-3 win for Aliya Allyn on the No. 1 court and a 6-1, 6-3 win for Olivia Desso at No 4.

The four other matches went to a third set in a tight 3-2 match. The Spartans were able to pull out the win in three of the four three-setters to clinch the team victory. Brooke Waite pulled out a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 victory at No. 6.

All three of the singles matches in a third set needed at least one tiebreaker to be decided, including Soleil Zsibrita taking her first set in a tiebreaker before dropping the second set in another tiebreaker and fall 6-2 in the third.

The Panthers are back on the court on Wednesday to take on Wheaton at 4 p.m.
