Women's tennis stays perfect in SCIAC with 6-3 win

ORANGE, Calif. – A 6-3 defeat of Cal Lutheran gave the Chapman University women's tennis team its third consecutive win on Tuesday. The Panthers also stayed perfect in the SCIAC through two matches.

Despite an injury forcing the No. 1 doubles team to retire early, the Panther came away with a 2-1 advantage out of the doubles portion of the match. Aliya Allyn and Alexis Golin took the 8-3 win at No. 2 while Olivia Desso and Brooke Waite took the No. 3 match 8-6.

Golin went on to win 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles match. Allyn fell in straight sets at the top of the lineup while Cal Lutheran;s Kayla King also won in straight sets at the bottom of the lineup. The middle three matches all went to a third set.

Chapman was able to come away with victories in all three to clinch the team win. Lucy Erickson rebounded from a first set loss to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. Desso did the same thing in winning 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. Brooke Waite won 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to close  out the victory.

The Panthers are back home at 4 p.m. on Wednesday to take on Grinell in a non-conference matchup.
