Waite lands SCIAC weekly honor after perfect week

ORANGE, Calif. – Brooke Waite has been named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week after helping the Panthers to a 4-0 week, including two conference wins.

In its busiest stretch of the season, the Panthers have caught fire and improved to 9-3 on the year with a 3-0 record in conference. Waite has been a driving force in the Panthers' surge with an 8-2 dual record and a 7-4 record in doubles.

Wait went 3-0 in singles and 4-0 in doubles last week, teaming up with Olivia Desso for the 4-0 mark in doubles. She won a three-setter in the Chapman team win over Cal Lutheran and went on to play another three sets in the 5-4 win over Oxy.

With the match on the line, Waite went into a tiebreaker in the third set and emerged with the 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win to give Chapman the team victory and stay undefeated in conference.

The Panthers take their six-match win streak on the road to Pomona-Pitzer on Friday before returning home to host Caltech on Saturday at 2 p.m.
