Rose, Emery lead Panthers at Soka Invite

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. –  Several members of the Chapman University women’s track team continued to improve on their personal best times at the Soka University Peace Invitational on Saturday at the Soka University Stadium. In particular, Panthers’ sprinters junior Tori Rose and sophomore Kate Emery dashed to new individual records in the 100, 200 and 400 meters.

Rose recorded a new best in the 100 meters with a time of 13.83 and then finished 1/100th of a second behind Emery in the 200 meters with a career-low 29.31 mark. Freshman sprinter Lisa Balducci finished less than a second behind her teammates with a career-low time of 29.87 in the event.

Meanwhile, besides edging out Rose with a time of 29.30 (a personal record) in the 200 meters, Emery also set a personal record in the 400 meters with a mark of 1:05.17.

Distance runner junior Kirstin Moore ran the 3000 meters in 12:29.80 to set a personal low in that event. Freshman hurdler Peyton Collins ran the 400-meter hurdles for the second week in a row placing sixth with a time of 1:09.36.
