PASADENA, Calif. – The Chapman University women's track and field team began the 2012 season at the Caltech All Comers meet on Saturday with encouraging results from some returning and new athletes alike.

Junior Peyton Collins kicked off the season with a pair of first place finishes in the 100 meters and the 300-meter hurdles. In fact, in the 100 meters, Chapman finished 1-2-3 in the event with Collins (13.96) capturing first. Sophomore Rose Fruci (14.31) placed second and freshman Jasmyn Domingues (14.40) took third in the sprint.

Collins – Chapman's all-time record holder in the 400-meter hurdles – claimed first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.78.

Another freshman Darcy Hardwick took first place in the long jump, measuring 4.73 meters in her first collegiate meet. Hardwick also showed some speed with a second place finish in the 60 meters with a time of 8.22 seconds. Fruci followed right behind Hardwick in the race with a time of 8.61 seconds, good enough for third place.
