800 Meter foursome runs into Chapman record books

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Chapman University women's 4x800 meter relay team eclipsed a 6-year old school record on Saturday, finishing the race in a time of 10:46.53 at the Burns Track & Field Complex as part of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 2012 Rossi Relays.

The Panthers' foursome of freshmen Launa Kressin, Nicole Jourdain, Lisa Peterkin and junior Kayla Heath placed 14th in the event shaved over 4 seconds off the previous record of 10:50.88 set in 2006. Peterkin ran anchor in the event, just as she did two weeks early with the team ran in 11:37 at Caltech.

In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman Chanelle Astrof improved on her season-best time with a finish of 18.37 in Claremont.

Another freshman Darcy Hardwick, who set the school record in the long jump last week, had her longest jump measure 4.70 meters to place 14th in the event. She narrowly missed her season-best time in the 100-meters with a time of 13.49 – tops for Chapman on Saturday.
