Fruci finds a fast track at Soka Invitational

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – Sophomore sprinter Rose Fruci showed off her wheels, having her best meet of the season as Chapman University competed at the Soka University Peace Invitational on Saturday. Fruci set a career-best in the 100 meters and ran her best 200 meters of the season as the Panthers set four different personal records in the meet.

Fruci placed eighth overall in the 100 meters with her personal best finish of 13.79 in the dash. Sophomore Ema Solarova also set a personal record in the event with a time of 14.51 and two places behind Fruci.

Chapman's fastest woman, Fruci also earned her fastest time of the year in the 200 meters with a mark of 28.70.

Junior distance runner Kayla Heath grabbed fifth place overall in the 1500 meter run with a personal best time of 5:23.28. That was nearly 11 seconds faster than her time just one week earlier at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.

Solarova and freshman Chanelle Astrof placed fifth and sixth respectively in the triple jump. Solarova earned a distance of 10.06 meters, while Astrof's measure of 9.60 meters was a career-high.

The Panthers close out the track and field season on Saturday at the U.C. San Diego Triton Invitational at 10 a.m.
