Season ends with school record 400-meter race by Hardwick

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Freshman Darcy Hardwick broke a three-year-old school record in the 400-meter dash over the weekend as the Chapman University women's track and field team competed at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational, the team's last meet of the season.

Hardwick's time of 1:00.77 topped Wendy Belanger's previous school-record time which was set in 2009 by less than a second. The freshman finished 3rd in her heat and in 11th place overall as UC San Diego's Jaqueline Rose won the event.

Chapman's 4x100 meter relay team of Hardwick, freshman Jasmyn Domingues, sophomore Rose Fruci and junior Peyton Collins had a season-best time of 52.75 and finished in 4th place behind Cal State Fullerton, UC San Diego and Soka University. In the triple jump, freshman Mia Montanile had a personal best jump of 9. 65 meters.

Of the 16 members of Chapman's track and field team, 10 are freshmen and there are no seniors which bids well for next season.
