Deats sets another school record in SCIAC meet

ORANGE, Calif.- Freshman Lauren Deats continued her assault on university records as the Chapman University women's track and field team participated in the SCIAC Multi-Dual Meet hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday.

The sprinter not only matched the school record she set in her last meet, posting a third-place time of 12.80 seconds in the 100 meter dash, but she went on to knock down a 17-year old record in the 200 meter dash. Deats registered a time of 26.00 seconds in the 200-meter dash, displacing Mary Folino's record from 1996 with a second-place finish that was just 0.05 seconds shy of the lead.

Freshman Baylor Hogan had strong finishes in both the 200 meter and the 400 meter dash, posting a seventh place finish in the 200 (27.19) and a third place finish as Chapman's only runner in the 400 (62.22).

Chapman's 4x100 meter relay team set a new personal best with a third place finish of 51.32 seconds. The quartet consisting of Jasmyn Domingues, Jaemi Mansfield, Hogan and Deats edged out their previous best by 0.25 seconds.

In the high jump, freshman Charlie Truax set a personal record with a fifth-place jump of 1.50 meters.

Chapman will compete again on Friday as they head south to San Diego for the Cal/Nevada Championships beginning at 1 p.m.
