Freshmen lead the way in Cal-Nevada Championships

ORANGE, Calif.- Six members of the Chapman University women's track team competed in the Cal-Nevada Championships at UC San Diego on Saturday. The Panthers showed continued improvement as they raced alongside the top track athletes across all divisions from the two states.  

Freshman sprinter Lauren Deats competed in the 200 meter dash, finishing 24th overall with a time of 26.03 seconds, coming in just shy of the school record she set last week (26.00).

Fellow freshman Baylor Hogan posted a personal-best time of 61.08 in the 400 meter dash, finishing 32nd overall. In the 800 meter run, Lisa Peterkin finished in a season-best 2:35.09, placing 33rd in the heat.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Hogan, Jaemi Mansfield, Peyton Collins and Deats ran a time of 4:22.78, placing 17th in the event.

The Panthers will reenter SCIAC competition on Saturday as they compete in the SCIAC Multi-Dual 3 hosted by Occidental. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
