Speedy Panthers set several personal bests in second SCIAC Meet

ORANGE, Calif.- A myriad of personal records highlighted the Chapman University women's track and field meet at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday. Among the personal-bests was freshman sprinter Lauren Deats who eclipsed her own 100 meter Chapman record (12.80), finishing the heat in 12.67 seconds.

Deats grabbed a third place finish with her record-breaking effort, crossing the line just 0.16 seconds behind the top finisher, Redlands' Ashley Lively. The 100-meter dash featured several personal bests as Jaemi Mansfield (13.70), Maria Belen Meza (14.03) and Chanelle Astrof (14.28) were joined by three other Panthers who recorded PR's in the heat.

Freshman Baylor Hogan led the Panthers in the both the 200 and 400 meter dash, finishing the 200 with a personal-best time of 26.86 seconds and the 400 with a time of 1:01.63.

The 800 meter run featured a trio of personal bests, with Nicole Jourdain coming in as Chapman's top finisher in sixth place with a time of 2:41.56.

Sophomore Lisa Peterkin finished eighth with a personal-best 1500 meter time of 5:19.69. Jourdain also posted a career-best mark in the heat, finishing in 5:30.82.

Charlie Truax took fourth place in the high jump, matching her personal best with a jump at 1.50 meters. Joanna Henkin took seventh overall in the shot put, recording a distance of 8.21 meters.

The Panthers will compete on April 13 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational before heading to the SCIAC Championships being held at Moorpark on April 26-27.
