Chapman athletes recognized on SCIAC All-Academic teams

Chapman University student-athletes were well-represented during the 2013-14 academic year as the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named its All-Academic teams by sport. Leading the way for the Panthers was women’s soccer, which garnered a conference-best 14 honorees.

Track duo earns All-SCIAC recognition

By vitrue of placing in the top six in their individual events at the SCIAC Track and Field Championships earlier this month, a pair of Chapman University women have been named to the All-SCIAC Track and Field Team for the 2014 season. Sophomore sprinter Lauren Deats earned her second career All-Conference nod in the 200 meters and sophomore Charlie Truax earned the award for the first time in the high jump.

Three Panthers reach finals in individual events at SCIAC Championships

The Chapman University women’s track and field team concluded its season on Saturday with a last place finish at the SCIAC Championships at Bill Henry Track on the campus of Occidental College. The Panthers finished eighth of nine schools in the overall final conference standings thanks to a pair of wins earlier in the season.

4x100 relay notches first place, CU record

The Chapman University women’s 4x100 meter relay team dashed to a school record and first place finish, defeating University of Redlands and Occidental College along the way at the SCIAC #3 Multi-Dual track and field meet at Claremont on Saturday.

Ramirez sets school record in 800 meters

Chapman University freshman Cathryne Ramirez broke the school record in the 800 meters at the 28th Annual Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday. Ramirez ran the race in 2:25.85, eclipsing Chapman’s previous record of 2:27.05 set by Wendy Belanger at the Soka University Peace Invite three years ago.

Panthers miss the mark at track meet in La Verne

The Chapman University women's track and field team hit the track on Saturday in the second SCIAC multi-dual meet of the year, this time at Ortmeyer Stadium in La Verne. The Panthers lost to the other four teams in the field (Cal Lutheran, La Verne, Redlands, Whittier), but had a few notable performances.

Chapman opens SCIAC competition with multi-dual meet

The Chapman University women's track and field team placed fourth out of five teams at the first SCIAC multi-dual meet of the year at Pomona Pitzer Colleges’ Strehle Track on Saturday. The Panthers fell to host Pomona-Pitzer, but defeated Caltech at a meet that also included Redlands and Whittier.

Panthers break two school records at Claremont Rossi Relays

The Chapman University's women's track and field team broke two school records at the 18th Annual Rossi Relays on Saturday at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' Burns Track & Field Complex. The women set records in the distance medley relay and the 4x800 meter relay, due in large part to a strong class of freshmen runners.

Deats set to lead Panthers' track team in 2014

The Chapman University women’s track and field team, led by school record-holding sprinter Lauren Deats, is set to open its 2014 season at the Pomona-Pitzer All Comers meet on Feb. 15. The All Comers meet is the first of two meets preceding the Panthers’ first conference competition at the SCIAC Multi-Dual #1 on March 8.
