Chapman earns another sweep over La Sierra

ORANGE, Calif. - The Chapman University women's volleyball team trailed only twice the entire match on Thursday night as the Panthers defeated visiting La Sierra University in three sets at Hutton Sports Center. The Panthers swept the match 25-3, 25-13, 25-14 for their third sweep in the last four games.

The Panthers led the entire first set cruising to a 25-3 victory. From there, Chapman (9-6) trailed only twice the rest of the way, 2-1 in the second set and 4-1 in the third set, before securing each victory. The Panthers had a balanced attack led by senior MB Jill Felger who had seven kills followed by junior OH Eryn Leja with six kills. Defensively junior libero Lynda Ly had 11 digs.

The Golden Eagles (3-7) were led by Hallie Burishkin who had six kills to go along with nine digs and Veronica Felix who had eight digs.

Chapman has now won all six matches in its head-to-head match-up with LSU dating back to 2003, not losing a game in the process. The Panthers improved to 4-1 at home this year and have won 11 of their past 13 home matches.
