Panthers' libero earns All-West Region honors, again

ORANGE, Calif. - For the third consecutive year, Chapman University women's volleyball star Linda Ly has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-West Region team as first team libero selection. The senior - who earned All-America honors in 2008 - becomes the fifth Panther in the school's Division III history to earn regional honors three times in her career.

Ly revolutionized the libero position at Chapman, shattering every school record for digs. This season she finished with 822 digs and led all of Division III with 7.75 digs per set. She also set an NCAA Division III record with 56 digs in a four-set match against La Verne on Oct. 10. Ly finished the season with 11 matches of 30 or more digs and helped the Panthers to their first NCAA playoff appearance since 2005.

She ended her career with 2,529 career digs which is almost 1,500 more than the next closest player in Chapman history.

This marks the second season in a row Ly has been named first team All-West Region. As a sophomore she earned honorable mention. She joins Shawna Parkinson '98, Addy Benard '98, Becky Mondon '03 and Jill Felger '09 as the only three-time honorees from Chapman.
