AVCA awards Chapman with second straight academic honor

For the third time in the past four years, the Chapman University volleyball team has been honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for academic excellence. The Panthers earned a team grade point average of 3.38 for the 2010-11 school year, bringing home an AVCA Team Academic Award for the second year in a row.
A Chapman record: Six volleyball players earn All-Independent

A school-record six Chapman University women’s volleyball players have been named to the All-Independent team on Wednesday by the Association of Division III Independents, including three first-team selections. The Panthers broke their previous best of five selections set last season.
Ferrin named to AVCA All-America team

In just her first year as an everyday volleyball player, Chapman University sophomore MB Kate Ferrin has been named to the 2010 NCAA Division III All-America Team as an honorable mention. The teams were announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

As if not wanting to say ‘good bye’ to its only senior, the Chapman University women’s volleyball team stretched its regular season finale as long as it could. The Panthers finally disposed of visiting Hope International University in five sets, 25-18, 15-25, 25-18, 21-25, 15-10 at the Hutton Sports Center on Wednesday night.

Three weeks ago, the thought of “home”coming was far from a welcoming one to the Chapman University women’s volleyball team. However, the Panthers kicked off Homecoming Weekend at Chapman University with their fourth consecutive home win – a three-game sweep (25-16, 25-20, 25-20) over visiting Southwestern College (Ariz.) – at the Hutton Sports Center on Friday night.

The Chapman University womens volleyball team won its season-high sixth straight match, sweeping visiting Bates College (Maine) 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 at the Hutton Sports Center on Thursday night. The Panthers have now won 10 of their last 12 overall, including three in a row at home.

The Chapman University women’s volleyball team swept visiting Whittier College on Tuesday night, 25-10, 25-22, 29-27 at the Hutton Sports Center to climb back to the .500 mark overall. The Panthers have won five of their past seven matches to even their record at 10-10 in 2010.
Home sweep home: Volleyball gets first home win

The Chapman University volleyball team eliminated a huge monkey from its back, earning its first home victory of 2010 with a three-game sweep over visiting Moravian College (Pa.) 25-23, 25-14, 25-18 at the Hutton Center on Friday night. The Panthers have won three of their past four matches following a six-match losing streak in mid-September.

The Chapman University volleyball team remained winless at home in 2010, suffering a three-game sweep at the hands of NAIAs No. 3-ranked Biola University, 25-22, 25-13, 25-8 at the Hutton Sports Center on Friday night. The Panthers fell to 0-4 on their home court and saw their brief two-game winning streak snapped.
Kowalski breaks Chapman volleyball assists record

Chapman University senior S Kat Kowalski broke the Panthers all-time career assists record on Saturday despite the Chapman volleyball teams road loss to the University of La Verne, 25-22, 23-25, 25-13, 27-25. Kowalski served up 31 assists in the match to give her 3,370 for her career.
Unbeaten Redlands keeps Chapman winless at home

The Chapman University volleyball team dropped its third consecutive match on Tuesday, falling in four sets to visiting University of Redlands, 25-11, 25-20, 18-25, 25-20 at the Hutton Sports Center. The Panthers remained winless in two home matches this season, despite a 5-3 record away from the Hutton Center.

Coming off a solid 3-1 performance at the Pomona-Pitzer Tournament last weekend, the Chapman University womens volleyball team was eager to play in front of its home crowd for the first time this season. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges had other ideas, sweeping Chapman 25-23, 25-23, 25-15 in the Panthers home opener at the Hutton Sports Center on Tuesday night.
