Volleyball earns academic honors for fourth straight year

For the fourth consecutive year, the Chapman University volleyball team has been honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for academic excellence. The Panthers earned the AVCA’s Team Academic Award thanks to a cumulative 3.5 grade-point average amongst all student-athletes on their roster.

AVCA names three Panthers to All-America team

Three members of Chapman University’s playoff-qualifying volleyball team have been selected to the All-America team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Senior OH Ashleigh Gideon headlines the Panthers’ honorees, earning second team honors.

Volleyball run comes to an end in second round of Regionals

The Chapman University volleyball season came to an end in an all too familiar place on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers fell in the second round of the NCAA Division III West Regionals, losing in three sets to No. 12 University of Puget Sound (25-18, 28-26, 25-22) at the Gilbert Arena on the campus of Cal Lutheran University.

Volleyball sweep over PLU propels Chapman into second round

The No. 21-ranked Chapman University volleyball team made quick work of its first round opponent No. 16 Pacific Lutheran University (Wash.), defeating the Lutes in three sets (25-13, 25-15, 25-22) at the NCAA Division III West Regionals at the Gilbert Arena on Friday afternoon.

School-record five Panthers named to AVCA All-Region squad

In the wake of its most successful season in 23 years, the Chapman University volleyball team continues to garner off-the-court recognition. The Panthers had five members of their NCAA playoff-bound team named to the All-West Region team, as named by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Thursday.

Selection Monday: Women's soccer, volleyball headed to NCAA playoffs

The Chapman University women’s soccer team took the anticipation out of it with a win on Saturday, but volleyball had to sweat it out a little. In the end, both Panther teams are headed back to the NCAA Division III playoffs this weekend.

Cal Lutheran takes SCIAC Tourney; Panthers playoff fate on hold

With an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III playoffs on the line, top-seeded host and No. 8-ranked Cal Lutheran was too much for the visiting No. 21-ranked Chapman University volleyball team, as the Regals swept the Panthers (25-18, 25-18, 25-18) in the SCIAC Tournament finals at the Gilbert Arena on Saturday night.

Chapman gets five on All-SCIAC volleyball team

In its first full season of SCIAC membership and conference play, the Chapman University women’s volleyball team had five players named to the All-SCIAC volleyball team for the 2012 season, announced by the conference office on Thursday.

Chapman sweeps past La Verne in SCIAC volleyball semifinal

The rubber match between nationally-ranked teams went the way of No. 21 Chapman University as the Panthers used a potent and consistent attack to turn back No. 25 University of La Verne in three sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-22) in the semifinals of the SCIAC Postseason Volleyball Tournament on Thursday in Thousand Oaks.

Women's soccer, volleyball ready for SCIAC Tournaments

The Chapman University women’s soccer team heated up at the right time and the volleyball team has been hot all year. As a result, both have earned No. 2 seeds in this week’s SCIAC Tournaments, which will determine the conference’s automatic qualifier into the NCAA postseason tournaments.

No. 25 Panthers do quick work in doubleheader sweep

The No. 25-ranked Chapman University volleyball team made quick work of its opponents on Friday, capturing a pair of wins via the three-set sweep in a day-night doubleheader against visiting UC Santa Cruz and Caltech at the Hutton Center.

Volleyball is first to punch ticket to SCIAC Tournament

Sole possession of first place back in Chapman hands

The Chapman University volleyball team assumed sole possession of first place in the SCIAC on Saturday night, defeating visiting University of La Verne in four sets (23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 27-25) in a conference match at the Hutton Sports Center.

Hope International can't slow Chapman in nonconference matchup

The Chapman University women’s volleyball team trailed on just three points the entire match as they cruised to a three-set win over Hope International University on Tuesday night at the Hutton Center in a nonconference matchup. Chapman won 25-17, 25-15, 25-16 to earn its ninth win in its last 11 matches while Hope International has dropped 10 of its last 11.

Geiger earns AVCA Division III Player of the Week honors

Sophomore MB Val Geiger has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 1-7. She is the first Panther to earn the AVCA Player of the Week award after leading Chapman to a pair of conference wins and into a tie for first place in the SCIAC.
