Volleyball duo named to All-SCIAC squad

ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University volleyball senior duo Val Geiger and Andi Frisina have been named to the All-SCIAC volleyball team as voted on by the conference coaches for the 2014 season. While it is Frisina's first honor, Geiger has now earned the award in three consecutive seasons.

Geiger finished her career on Saturday night ranked No. 2 in Chapman history in kills with 1,158 over her four-year career. The middle blocker was named to the All-SCIAC Second Team after a year in which she tallied 233 kills and 46 blocks despite missing five matches early in the season due to an injury. She finished 2014 with 3.4 kills per set and a career-high 0.67 blocks per set average. She reached double figures in kills 11 times, including three matches with 20 or more.

Meanwhile, Frisina also was named to the Second Team ranking as one of the top liberos in Division III. She became just the fourth individual in school history to record over 500 digs in a season, totaling 521 in just 92 sets played. She currently ranks in the top 35 in Division III and second in the SCIAC with 5.7 digs per set and she recorded 20-plus digs in a match 12 times this season, including a season-high 40 on 'Senior Night' against Occidental.
