No. 18 La Verne sweeps Chapman at home

ORANGE, Calif. –The Chapman University women's volleyball lost at home on Friday night in three sets to visiting No. 18-ranked University of La Verne 25-18, 25-22, 25-20 in a SCIAC match at the Hutton Sports Center. The guest Leopards hit .337 as a team to sweep the two-match season series with the Panthers.

In set one, La Verne (18-4 overall, 12-2 SCIAC) led the set with eleven kills and just four errors on 26 attempts to hit .269.

Chapman took an early 9-4 lead in the second set, but La Verne battled to take a 13-10 lead. The Panthers climbed back to tie it up at 21-all but the Leopards ran away with set two 25-22.

In set three Chapman gave up another early lead allowing the Leopards to register a .394 hitting percentage in the game with a set-high of 17 kills.

Senior OH Michele Hammer recorded a team-high of 10 kills, while sophomore OH Kylie Cooke followed with nine. Freshmen setters Jessica Blum and Kaitlyn Raymundo played equally well tallying 14 and 13 assists in the three set match.  

 Sophomore MB Ali Robinson led the Panthers at the net with a team-high of four total blocks.

The Panthers will host first-place No. 7 Cal Lutheran Tuesday for a match set at 7:30 p.m.
