Women's volleyball earns AVCA academic award

ORANGE, Calif. –The Chapman University women's volleyball team once again earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Team Academic Award for the 2015-16 school year. Chapman was part of a record-breaking list for the AVCA's annual academic award.

In order to earn the recognition, the AVCA required teams to post a 3.3 team GPA or higher for the entire school year. The Panthers exceeded that minimum with a 3.45 GPA last year – the fifth-highest in the department.

A total of 764 teams earned the academic distinctions across all levels of volleyball from high school to college. That number broke last year's record by seven.

The complete list of honorees can be found here.
