Friend and Cooke named to All-SCIAC Team

ORANGE, Calif. – Two members of the Chapman University women's volleyball team earned All-SCIAC honors, the conference announced on Monday. Junior Lauren Friend headlined Chapman's selection with a spot on the first team, while senior Kylie Cooke was named to the second team.

Friend leads the team and ranks fifth in the SCIAC in blocks per set at 0.90. The junior's career-high 0.344 hitting percentage ranks her first on the team and second in the conference. She recorded a career-high 195 kills and 2.24 kills per set in her junior campaign. The Kirkland, Wash. native also recorded a career-high 36 digs this season and 78 blocks to help the team at the net.

Cooke ranks third on the team with 203 kills and leads the team with 2.74 kills per set. Her career-best hitting percentage of .292 ranks her second on the team behind Friend. On defense for the Panthers, Cooke has recorded her best season yet. She tallied career-highs in both blocks and blocks per set, recording 45 blocks and ranking second on the team with 0.61 blocks per set.

Junior Courtney Justus was named to the All-SCIAC Sportsmanship team for her character on and off the court.
