Srivastava notches third SCIAC weekly award

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Sophie Srivastava was awarded her third SCIAC Athlete of the Week honor after helping lead Chapman to two crucial wins. The Panthers head into the final week of the season in second place in a tight race for the four spots in the SCIAC Tournament.

Srivastava continued to shine last week as a setter and right side. She was named the SCIAC Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this year. She was also selected as the Specialist of the Week once.

The freshman from Belmont, Calif. hit .294 and averaged three kills per set in a home sweep of Whittier and comeback, five-set win at Pomona-Pitzer. She tallied her eighth triple-double of the year at Pomona-Pitzer with 15 kills, 25 assists and 10 digs. She ranks second in all of Division III with eight tripl-doubles.

In a dominant sweep over Whittier, she hit .412 with nine kills, 15 assists, six digs and two service aces.

Srivastava and the Panthers close out the regular season with a 7 p.m. match against Cal Lutheran at home on Tuesday, a Friday road match at La Verne and a home match at 4 p.m. against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday.
