Srivastava earns All-Region recognition

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Sophie Srivastava earned another award after a standout freshman season as All-Region Honorable Mention. The SCIAC Newcomer of the Year was one of two freshmen honored in the West Region.

Srivastava became the first Chapman player to record a triple-double and ended the season with 10 triple-doubles, ranking second in all of Division III in that category. She was honored last week as the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year.

The setter/right side hitter from Belmont, Calif. ranked fifth in the SCIAC with a .279 hitting percentage and hit 2.76 kills per set. She also averaged 2.43 digs per set and 5.18 assists per set. She was also third on the team with 67 total blocks.

In total, eight SCIAC players were recognized as All-West Region. Srivastava is the first Chapman player to earn the recognition since 2013.

Chapman finished the year 19-5 and took the third seed in the SCIAC Tournament.
