Water polo record holders are now All-Americans

ORANGE, Calif. - They helped to re-write the record books this spring, now two Chapman University women's water polo players have earned All-America honors. Senior 2-meter Sabrina Cook and sophomore goalie Celia Huling have been named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Division III All-America team for 2009.

Cook shattered Chapman's single-season scoring record with 129 goals in 28 games this spring. She scored at least five goals in half of those games, including a record-setting 10 goals against Cal State East Bay at the Western Water Polo championships in April. The senior added 15 assists and 31 steals and led the team with 48 earned ejections this season.

On the defensive side of the pool, Huling put together on of the finest seasons for Chapman goalie ever. She made more saves in one season than any Panther with 315 saves in 31 games. The sophomore averaged over 10 saves per game and set a school record with 21 saves in a win over Macalester (Minn.) in March. She is just the second Chapman cageminder to ever earn All-America honors.

It is the first such honor for both players and marks the first time since 2006 the Panthers have had multiple All-America selections.
