Rookie paces Chapman as offense scores 18 again

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's water polo team made it two in a row with another lopsided 18-6 victory over visiting Macalester College (Minn.) at the Allred Aquatics Center on Wednesday evening. Just three days after scoring 18 goals against U.C. Irvine's club team, the Panther offense was at it again, equaling its highest offensive output of the year for second straight game.

Freshman driver Allison Harf, quite literally "drove" the Panthers' offense in her first career start. The rookie scored a pair of goals and set up seven others with assists, tying a Chapman record for helpers in a game.

Chapman (5-10) took a 6-0 lead after the first quarter and scored the first 10 goals of the game. Sophomore utility Mandy Sheehan scored two of her three goals in the half to lead the Panther attack. Chapman's defense was also impressive and would have shut out the Scots in the first half had it not been for a buzzer-beater by freshman Katie Eulau which made the score 10-1 at halftime.

The second half was more of the same as the Panthers scored four goals in third and fourth quarters each. Ten different Chapman players scored at least one goal in the game, led by freshman driver Monica Merrill led Chapman who had four goals and added a pair of steals. Sophomore driver Sami McLaughlin and junior 2-meter Arielle Worthington each had a pair of goals.

Sophomore goalie Allison Smith made the start in the cage for Chapman and earned 10 blocks and seven steals.
