Women's water polo in top-five in national GPA rankings

For the fourth consecutive year, the Chapman University women’s water polo team ranked in the top-five in the nation (amongst all college divisions) in team grade-point average as the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) released its All-Academic awards for the 2015 season. Thirteen Panthers earned individual honors with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, while the team posted an overall mark of 3.48 – tied for fourth in the nation.

Forty three Chapman University spring sports student-athletes have been recognized for their achievement in the classroom by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference which named its All-Academic teams by sport on this month. Leading the way for the Panthers was women’s track and field with 10 athletes honored.

A school-record four Chapman University women’s water polo players have been named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Division III All-America team for the 2015 season. Senior utility Riley Ford headlined the Panthers’ quartet, becoming just the second player in Chapman history to earn First Team honors.

Spicer earns Capital One Academic All-District honors

Chapman University senior Kirsten Spicer has been named to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District VIII Women’s At-Large team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The water polo goalie and swimmer earned the award for the second time in her career thanks to an outstanding season on the field and in the classroom.

Chapman University celebrated another outstanding year in athletics with its annual Jog-a-thon and Sports Appreciation Day at Wilson Field on Friday afternoon. In addition to celebrating the University’s first-ever SCIAC football and men’s basketball (co) championships and recognizing retiring Director of Athletics David Currey, the Panthers honored five seniors with the Department of Athletics’ annual awards including co-Male Athletes of the Year for the first time in Chapman history.

The Chapman University women’s water polo team upset the No. 2 seed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 10-9 to finish third place in the SCIAC Tournament and fourth in conference overall for the Panthers highest finish since joining the SCIAC in 2012.

Top seed Pomona-Pitzer defeats Chapman 16-4 in SCIAC semis

Division III’s No. 1-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and SCIAC Championships’ top seed proved why it’s been ranked first and undefeated in conference play, handing the fourth-seeded Chapman University women’s water polo team a 16-4 loss in the semifinals of the championship tournament at Haldeman Pool on Saturday.

Third time's still a charm as Panthers advance to SCIAC semis

The Chapman University women’s water polo team defeated the University of Redlands for the third time this season 12-10 on Friday night at Haldeman Pool in the quarterfinals of the SCIAC Women’s Water Polo Championships. The No. 4-seeded Panthers will face host and top-seeded Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the semifinal match.

Seniors shine in regular season finale win

Three Chapman University women’s water polo seniors combined for 13 of the team’s 17 goals and another one became the school’s all-time leader in blocks as the Panthers cruised to a 17-3 ‘Senior Day’ win over visiting Caltech at the Allred Pool on Saturday.

The Chapman University women’s water polo team won for the fourth time in its past five games, defeating visiting University of La Verne 14-10 in a SCIAC game at the Allred Pool on Saturday. The Panthers snapped an 8-8 tie in the third quarter with six consecutive goals to secure their third win in their last four conference games.

Women's water polo falls to Sagehens at home

The Chapman University women's water polo team dropped a 12-6 decision to No. 1-ranked Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at the Allred Aquatics Center. The loss dropped the Panthers into fifth-place in SCIAC standings while allowing the Sagehens to move into a three-way tie for first-place with Whittier College and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Quincy leads Chapman to season sweep over Redlands

The Chapman University women’s water polo team earned a season sweep over University of Redlands with Wednesday afternoons 12-3 victory at Allred Pool. The Panthers defeated Redlands 16-8 at Redlands, in Chapman’s season opener on Sunday, February 1.

The Chapman University women's water polo team earned a season sweep over University of Redlands a 12-3 victory at Allred Pool. Junior Alison Quincy finished the game with a career-high six goals for Chapman.

Spicer moves into second in career blocks, Panthers split a pair

March 23, 2015

The Chapman University women’s water polo team split a pair of non-conference games on Monday, falling to Cal State East Bay 6-5 before defeating Concordia 15-11 at the Allred Pool. The Panthers’ one-goal loss to East Bay was their fourth loss this season either by a goal or in overtime. Meanwhile, senior goalie Kirsten Spicer ascended the Chapman record books with 20 blocks on Monday.

Panthers earn season sweep over Macalester

The Chapman University women’s water polo team earned a season sweep over Macalester College (Minn.) with Monday afternoons 21-5 victory at Allred Pool. The Panthers defeated Macalester 14-2 on Friday, March 13 just last week at the Cal Baptist Tournament in Riverside.
