Women's water polo posts top-5 GPA, 10 individuals recognized

ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University's women's water polo team made it 5-for-5 with a GPA in the top-5 in the nation for the fifth year in a row. The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches released its annual academic award with 10 Panthers recognized individually and the team ranking fifth in the nation in GPA.

As a team, the Panthers posted a 3.42 GPA to earn a spot in the top-5 in the country amongst all college divisions for the fifth year in a row. During their run in the top-5, the Panthers reached as high as second in the country in 2014. They were edged by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps' 3.46 GPA this year for the top spot in the SCIAC.

Individually, the Panthers placed 10 student-athletes on the ACWPC's All-Academic awards list. The lists are separated into three categories by GPA: Outstanding (3.71-4.0), Superior (3.41-3.70) and Excellent (3.20-3.40).

Junior Emily Fong and sophomore Katie Dalgamouni headlined the 10 Panthers to earn recognition with spots on the Outstanding list. Sophomore Kerry Goodspeed joined seniors Kate Avery and Kate Staskus on the Superior list. Seniors Alison Quincy and Deanna Farley earned Excellent recognition along with juniors Lindsey Campbell and Grace Schade as well as sophomore Isabel Kinsolving.

A total of 504 student-athletes were named to the team with the ACWPC awarding 131 Outstanding, 198 Superior and 175 Excellent accolades.
