Women's Water Polo falls to Azusa at home

ORANGE, Calif. - The Chapman University women's water polo team fell 14-3 to Azusa Pacific University on Tuesday night at Allred Pool.

Megan Myers and Arianne Yeo put the Cougars on the board first scoring on Azusa's first two possessions to take the lead 2-0 less than a minute into the match. The Cougars extended their lead to 6-1 by the end of the first scoring on six of ten possessions. Senior Grace Schade scored the Panthers only goal of the first period after capitalizing on a six-on-five advantage.

The Panthers outscored the Cougars in the second period 2-1 to tighten the score 7-3 with goals from senior Emily Fong and Schade. Schade scored from inside the two-meter while Fong's shot hit the back of the net from beyond the five-meter mark.

Analise Bacheller came out firing for the Cougars finding the net 20 seconds into the second half to spark a 5-0 run for Azusa. The Cougars ended the game on a 7-0 run leaving the Panthers scoreless through the last 16 minutes of play.

Schade led the Panther offense with two goals while Fong led Chapman with four earned ejections.

Chapman will play its next four matches at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego. The Panthers will begin with a match against Bucknell at 11:45 a.m. Chapman will then return home for a match against Virginia Military Institute at 4 p.m. on Monday, March 13.
