Hattori hauls in SCIAC weekly honor

ORANGE, Calif. – A 15-goal week has landed Chapman University freshman Audrey Hattori SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors for women's water polo. The freshman led the Panthers to a winning record through their busiest week of the season.

The Panthers began a seven-match week on Wednesday as they opened SCIAC play with a match against the University of La Verne. The two programs were tied at fifth in the DIII national poll. Hattori scored a season-best five goals in the match to lead the Panthers to the 13-10 win.

Chapman went on to play seven matches from Wednesday to Sunday, compiling a 4-3 record with wins over St. Francis, McKendree and Penn. St.-Behrend. Hattori scored 15 goals and passed out nine assists on the week while coming away with 19 steals on the defensive end.

The driver from Santa Monica, Calif. scored another hat trick in Chapman's 10-4 win over McKendree and netted the game-winner in the 10-9 win over St. Francis (N.Y.) with less than two minutes left.

The Panthers host Villanova tomorrow at 6 p.m. before jumping back into the SCIAC schedule at Whittier on Saturday.
