Trio of Panthers earn All-America honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Three Chapman University women's water polo players earned Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-America honors this morning. Freshman Audrey Hattori headlined the selections with Second Team recognition, while seniors Kerry Goodspeed and Ellie Peterson earned Honorable Mention honors.

Hattori earned All-America honors after being selected to the All-SCIAC Second Team earlier this season. In her first season with the Panthers, Hattori immediately entered the starting lineup as a driver. She led the Panthers in the pool with 35 goals and 30 assists for a team-high 65 points. The Santa Monica native ranked second in the SCIAC in assists and third in the conference with 50 steals. She also led the Panthers with 34 earned exclusions.

This is Goodspeed's first career All-America selection after posting career numbers in her final season as a Panther. The goalkeeper posted a career-high 157 saves, ranking third in the SCIAC. She also ranked fifth in the conference with 44 steals. The Northbrook, Ill. native started 17 of the 18 games she appeared in the season, tallying a total of 550 minutes. With Goodspeed's help, the Panthers only allowed 256 goals this season, the fewest since 2013.

Peterson also finds herself receiving All-America recognition for the first time in her career after helping lead the Panthers to their best conference finish in program history. The Orange native scored a career-best 43 goals while also tallying 19 assists to rank third on the squad with 62 points in her final season. She also recorded 32 steals and 29 earned exclusions while ranking second on the squad with a .319 shooting percentage.
