Stuart shines, Panthers fall to Explorers

ORANGE, Calif — The Chapman University Panthers took to the Allred Pool for the first time since last season in the Thursday, Mar. 3 home opener, but fell to the La Salle Explorers 19-10.

Freshman Grace Stuart was out there firing. The center had five goals in the match. The most from any Panther, and second highest total amongst all scorers.

With Stuart's strong performance, Chapman held tight for the majority of the match. The Panthers, who got off to an early four-point deficit, found themselves within one goal, 8-7, midway through the third quarter.

After some back-and-forth the score sat at 11-8, but it was all Explorers from there as La Salle went on an 8-2 run to seal the victory.

Around the pool, Freshman Morgan O'Connell posted two goals, and a trio of Panthers, Camille Chiang, Grace Younger and Julia Bridges added a goal a piece.

With the loss, Chapman fell to 4-6. La Salle improves to 5-7.

The Panthers next play in the Claremont Convergence over a two-day span, March 4-5, where they will play four games.
