Cresci and Hernandez are top finishers at West Regionals

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Chapman University sophomores Chris Cresci and Angelica Hernandez were the program's top finishers at the NCAA Division III West Region championships in Claremont on Saturday. On the men's side, Cresci placed 78th overall with a time of 28:59.56 in the 8-kilometer race. Meanwhile, Hernandez came in 92nd in the women's final with a time of 26:15.12 in the 6K.

Hernandez's time was a marked improvement - by nearly one minute - over her time of 27:13.4 on the same course in a race last month.

Cresci fell short of his season-low time of 28:21 set at the Biola Invitational on Oct. 25, but also improved by 15 seconds from his time on the same course at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite. Freshman men's runner Angel Flores was not far behind Cresci's pace, finishing in 96th place with a time of 30:41.04.

For the women, junior Kirsten Moore (27:05.26) and freshman Amanda Kristedja (27:15.75) finished just 10 seconds apart in 99th and 100th places overall.
