Ramirez, Reid earn All-Region honors at West Regionals

SALEM, Ore. - The Chapman University women's cross country team placed 13th overall at the NCAA Division III West Regionals, hosted by Willamette University (Ore.) on Saturday morning. Sophomore Cathryne Ramirez and junior Chris Reid earned All-Region honors by placing in the top 40 finishers in the women's and men's races, respectively.

Ramirez earned her second-fastest 6-kilometer time of the season, finishing at 23:26.3 and in 35th place out of 128 competitors. Ramirez placed 89th at last year's regional championships. She led the Panthers, who placed 13th overall in the West and improved four spots from last year's 17th-place finish.

Behind Ramirez, sophomores Cori Stemper and Jessica Selby tied for 69th place with identical finish times of 24:26.0. Sophomore Michiko Yee placed 74th overall with a time of 24:39.3.

Reid, who has earned All-Region honors in back-to-back seasons now, earned a time of 26:33.8 and 35th place out of 119 runners. The junior set the school record in the 8-kilometers at last year's regional championships in Claremont.
