Athlete of the Week: Sophia Duong - Women's Tennis

Junior women's tennis player Sophia Duong has been red hot on the hardcourt earning two more wins over the weekend against Cal Lutheran and La Verne. Duong has earned a team-leading 18-3 overall record this season, including a 7-1 mark in SCIAC competition. On Friday, the junior took down Cal Lu's No. 2 Daria Karakoulka in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. The following day Duong faced off against La Verne's Jeanette Losaria, who is ranked No. 15 in the West Region, and pulled off the upset, defeating Losaria in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

Splitting time between the No. 2 and 3 courts, Duong is currently in the midst of a five-match win streak, having won nine of her last 10 singles matches. Duong has also fared well this season in doubles play with a 17-6 record in pairs.
