Matt Smith, Baseball
The junior RHP tossed his first career complete game in a 4-1 win over George Fox University (Ore.) on Friday in the opening game of a four-game series with the Bruins at Hart Park. It was also the first complete game for the Panthers' pitching staff this season as Smith allowed just five hits and one run, while striking out a career-high 10 batters. The right-hander leads the Chapman staff with a 5-1 record and 1.51 ERA, including posting a 0.82 ERA with 28 strikeouts over his last three starts (22 IP) - all wins. Chapman took three of four in the series and has won 12 of its past 14 games.
