Chapman places 195 student-athletes on All-Academic team, every team above 3.0

ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman student-athletes left no question about their work off the field as 195 Panthers were honored on the SCIAC's All-Academic team. The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors all student-athletes with at least one full academic year and a 3.4 cumulative GPA or better as All-Academic. Chapman's 195 honorees were the third-most in the SCIAC.

Chapman's 195 honorees equate to nearly half of Panther student-athletes earning a 3.4 GPA or better as 42 percent earned the All-Academic distinction. All 20 programs were represented on the All-Academic team and 17 of the 20 teams had at least one-third of its roster recognized.

As a department in 2015-16, the Panthers' 461 student-athletes on 20 teams combined for an impressive 3.34 GPA. All 20 of the varsity sports programs had a team GPA above a 3.1 with the women's tennis team's 3.59 GPA leading the department.

Nine Chapman teams had at least half of their respective squads recognized as All-Academic. Women's track & field, women's soccer and women's tennis all had at least 70 percent of their rosters recognized as All-Academic.
