Baseball earns ABCA academic distinction

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University baseball team was recognized for its academic excellence in the 2017-18 academic year. The American Baseball Coaches Association annually honors college and high school teams with the Team Academic Excellence Award.
Record number of student-athletes achieve academic distinction

Chapman University student-athletes raised the bar with a record number of 220 SCIAC All-Academic selections for the 2017-18 school year. This year marks the first time in Chapman’s six-year history in the SCIAC that more than 200 Panthers were included on the All-Academic teams.

Love honored again as Academic All-American

Senior Jared Love earned Academic All-America Third Team honors for the second year in a row from the College Sports Information Directors of America. Love joins an elite list of just seven Panthers to earn the award in back-to-back years.

ORANGE, Calif. – Three members of the Chapman University baseball team earned American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region honors this week. Senior Gavin Blodgett and junior Tyler Peck each earned spots on the Second Team, while junior Matt Mogollon was selected to the Third Team.

ORANGE, Calif. – Three members of the Chapman University baseball team earned All-West Region recognition on Monday afternoon after D3basball.com released its annual All-Region selections. Junior Tyler Peck headlined the selections with a spot on the Second Team, while juniors Matt Mogollon and Tristan Kevitch earned spots on the Third Team.
Baseball drops elimination game to UT-Dallas

One big inning was the difference as the Chapman University baseball team was eliminated from the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship with a 6-2 loss to UT-Dallas. The Panthers end the season with a 35-13 record.
Tsuruda’s two-run homer keeps baseball playoff hopes alive

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Chapman University baseball team rallied to defeat the Redlands Bulldogs 6-5 in the second game of the double-elimination Western Regional. The Panthers (35-12) were led by junior Alex Tsuruda, who hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to help give Chapman the victory.
Baseball falls in NCAA opener

The opportunities were there for another comeback win but the Chapman University baseball team fell 10-5 to Willamette in the opening game of the Spokane Regional. The Panthers (34-12) won four straight elimination games to win the SCIAC Tournament and will need a duplicate effort to advance.

The Chapman University baseball team is headed to Spokane, Wash. to begin the 2018 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. The Panthers won the SCIAC Tournament a week ago to earn the automatic bid into the national tournament.

For the second year in a row, senior first baseman Jared Love has been selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team. The award recognizes all the selected student-athletes’ achievements on the field and in the classroom.

Chapman University Athletics announced its annual senior departmental awards at the jog-a-thon on Friday afternoon. The Panthers awarded male and female Scholar-Athletes of the Year awards as well as male and female Leadership Awards.

Junior Christian Cosby threw eight dominant innings as the Chapman University baseball team stayed alive in the SCIAC Tournament with a 5-2 win over Redlands. The Panthers (33-12) won their third consecutive elimination game to take a winner-take-all game seven in the SCIAC Tournament.
