Local officials recognize baseball's national championship

The Chapman University baseball team’s national championship was formally recognized by the Orange City Council on Tuesday as well as several local officials.
Fox named ABCA DIII Assistant Coach of the Year

One more award came through for the Division III National Champions with the American Baseball Coaches Association selecting the Panthers’ Geoff Fox as the NCAA Division III Assistant Coach of the Year. Fox celebrated his sixth and final season with the Panthers in 2019.
National champs earn academic recognition

While chasing and winning a national title, the Chapman University baseball team also held its own in classroom to earn national recognition. The Panthers earned the Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coached Association for the third year in a row.
221 Panthers honored as SCIAC All-Academic

Chapman University’s student-athletes matched their record number with 221 SCIAC All-Academic selections in for the 2018-19 school year. The Panthers had the fourth-most selections of the nine schools in the SCIAC.
ABCA honors Laverty as Division III Coach of the Year

One more award came through with for the Chapman University baseball team after the conclusion of the Division I season. The American Baseball Coaches Association announced that head coach Scott Laverty as the NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year.
Peck named ABCA Division III Pitcher of the Year

It was a memorable season in more ways than one for Chapman University graduate Tyler Peck and he has one more piece of hardware to remember it by. The American Baseball Coaches Association announced that Peck has been selected as the NCAA Division III Pitcher of the Year.

After guiding the Chapman University baseball team to the national championship this week, head coach Scott Laverty was named the D3baseball.com National Coach of the Year. This is Laverty’s first national coaching honor in his 20th season as a Head Coach and sixth at Chapman.

The Chapman University baseball team beat Birmingham-Southern College 6-4 in the first game of the best-of-three National Championship series. Senior Tyler Peck started in his final career game, striking out four batters while allowing three runs in seven innings pitched.

The Chapman University baseball team handed the University of Massachusetts Boston Beacons their first loss of the World Series earlier this afternoon, beating the side 8-4 in its second elimination game of the day. The Panthers had an explosive 10th inning to live to see another day of World Series baseball.
