Peck garners second SCIAC weekly award

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Tyler Peck pitched a gem as the Chapman University baseball team rolled past Caltech 10-0 on Saturday afternoon, earning SCIAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season.

The Corte Madera native struck out 15 batters in seven innings and allowed just three hits and one walk, retiring 20 of the 24 batters he faced in the victory. Peck moved to 6-3 on the season and tossed his first shutout of the year. He currently leads the Panthers and ranks second in the SCIAC with a 1.87 ERA, the lowest of his career.

With a sweep of the Beavers this past weekend, Chapman clinched the top seed in the upcoming SCIAC Postseason Tournament. The Panthers will host the double-elimination tournament at Hart Park from Friday, May 10 to Sunday, May 12.

Chapman faces off against Cal Lutheran on Friday, May 10 at 3 p.m. in the first game of the tournament.
