Local officials recognize baseball's national championship

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University baseball team's national championship was formally recognized by the Orange City Council on Tuesday as well as several local officials.

The City Council presented the baseball team with a proclamation celebrating its momentous achievement. In addition to the proclamation, Congressman Lou Correa of the U.S. House of Representatives presented a framed copy of the congressional record from his announcement of the national title on the floor of the House.

Orange County Supervisor Donald P. Wagner and California Assemblyman Steven Choi also sent member of their respective staffs to present head coach Scott Laverty and the baseball team with Certificates of Recognition.

Chapman won its third baseball national championship in school history and second in 16 years with a sweep of Birmingham-Southern in the championship series of the 2019 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
