The Chapman University baseball team concluded another championship season with the Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association. The annual award for academic achievement went out to nearly 700 high school and college programs in 2022.

A trio of Chapman University baseball student-athletes competed in their respective summer league All-Star Games. AJ Anzai, Grant Manning and Trent Turquand each earned the All-Star nods.

Chapman University student-athletes set a new school record with 281 individuals earning SCIAC All-Academic recognition. The 281 individuals to earn the annual academic recognition are 22 more than year’s record-breaking number. The SCIAC annually recognizes student-athletes who have been at their institution for at least one academic year and finished the school year with a 3.4 cumulative GPA or better.

A career that started with a national championship ended with another prestigious honor as Chapman University baseball senior Cooper Foard was selected to the College Sports Information Directors Association’s Academic All-America Third Team.

A pair of starting pitchers were named to various All-American teams for Chapman University baseball. Wyatt Thompson landed the honors from both the American Baseball Coaches Association and D3baseball.com while Grant Manning earned the recognition from D3baseball.com.

After another deep run into the postseason, eight members of the Chapman University baseball team were recognized on various All-Region 10 Teams. D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association each released their All-Region awards this week with plenty of Panthers honored.

With Oli Sellman on third, Cole Minato hit a fly ball just deep enough into right field for a game-winning sacrifice fly and a 9-8 win for the Chapman University baseball team. The win forces a winner-take-all game three with a trip to the national championship site in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on the line.

The Chapman University baseball team fell 4-2 to LaGrange in game three of the NCAA Division III Baseball Super Regional. Chapman’s season came to an end with the loss and LaGrange moves on to play for the national championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Chapman University baseball team travelled to Georgia for the Super Panther Regional of the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Friday for game on and 2 p.m. on Saturday for game two with game three following on Saturday if needed.

The Chapman University baseball team opened the Super Regional with LaGrange with a 7-6 loss in 10 innings. AJ Anzai delivered a game-tying double in the ninth to force extra innings.

Chapman baseball bounced back from its two-and-out SCIAC tournament appearance to take game one of the Orange Regional 3-1 over the Pacific University Boxers. Grant Manning set the tone with an outstanding one-run, 8.2 inning performance on the bump, not surrendering a run until his final batter in the ninth.
