The Chapman University football team continues to receive off-field recognitions as five players were named Scholar Athletes by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame at their 43rd annual banquet hosted by the Orange County chapter.

In its first year of eligibility, the Chapman University football team had 14 players named to the SCIAC All-Academic team. The Panthers tied with Pomona-Pitzer Colleges for most players selected.

Brandel, Kunitomo headed to All-American Bowl

Chapman University seniors D.J. Brandel and Kali’i Kunitomo have been selected to participate in the All-American Bowl at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn. on Saturday, Dec. 20. The two will wear Stripes in the Stars and Stripes Game, kicking off a 2 p.m. local time. It is the second of three All-American games hosted by the Metrodome that day.

McKibbins named to All-West Region team after record-setting season

After etching his name into the Chapman University football record books this season, sophomore RB Jeremiah McKibbins has been named to the D3football.com All-West Region third team. The honor follows McKibbins’s first season as a starter for the Panthers where he earned top-25 statistical rankings on both a national and regional level.

Eleven Panthers named to All-SCIAC football team

In the aftermath of Chapman University’s first football season as a member of the SCIAC and a third-place finish in the conference standings, the Panthers have earned 11 All-Conference selections as voted on by the head coaches in the SCIAC.

SCIAC title eludes Chapman with 38-28 loss to Cal Lu

With the SCIAC championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs on the line, California Lutheran University ran off 24-straight second half points and secured a 38-28 win over the Chapman University football team on Saturday afternoon at Rolland Stadium.

Mehlhaff earns second Capital One Academic All-District selection

Senior Chapman University linebacker Michael Mehlhaff has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII football team for the second-straight year, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, Nov. 8. It is the second year in a row that Chapman has had an All-District football selection and 32nd time overall a Chapman player has earned the award.
